Comment
Add a CommentInteresting premise: a handful of teens become trapped in a high school during the largest blizzard of all times. It was amazing to read how they managed, and mostly, survived the ordeal. The only problem with the book is that it was too short. Of course, there could be a sequel that covers the aftermath!
It was good until the ending
Book: good. Ending: ehh. bad. fail lol
It was ok through most of it, kind of boring towards the end, but there are some intense parts. The ending was awful. Overall: it's ok.
Childlit recommendation NPR summer reading for all ages
***********SPOILER ALERT******** I enjoyed the book to the point of the end. Then I did a double take to figure out where the rest of the book was. I tend to think that a good author does certain things, it can either break them or make them. The possible endings to this story are many, and the author lets you finish the book, or at least that is what my feelings are. All of you that have read the book are still thinking about the book wondering what happens next, but the ending is what we want it to be. I only gave 3 stars because i wanted the author to tell me the ending, not make me think about it. I read to escape reality, not think an ending up myself. That is part of it as well trying to guess what the ending will be, and see if you get it right.
Good book. Short read. Not a big fan of the ending.
So Intriguing Loved It Alot
When Scotty and his friends Jason and Pete stay behind to finish up a shop project on the day of a brutal winter storm, they end up becoming trapped in the high school with 7 other students. Little do they know that this is the worst winter storm ever and just because they have shelter, it doesn't mean they're safe...very exciting--a good read for teens.
I would echo many comments already posted, especially about the abrupt ending (I was checking the back to see if maybe some final pages had been removed!). I enjoyed the voice of the narrator, Scott, although the incessant teen speak (every 5th word was "like') grew irritating. As an adult it was amusing to note that cell pone deprivation was one of the major sufferings these teens endured!
