Summary
Add a SummaryScott Pilgrim plays in a band which aspires to success. He dates Knives Chau, a high-school girl five years younger, and he hasn't recovered from being dumped by his former girlfriend, now a success with her own band. When Scott falls for Ramona Flowers, he has trouble breaking up with Knives and tries to romance Ramona. As if juggling two women wasn't enough, Ramona comes with baggage: seven ex-lovers, with each of whom Scott must do battle to the death in order to win Ramona.

Quotes
Add a QuoteSCOTT: 7 EVIL EX'S?! YOU HAVE 7 EVIL EX'S?!?
Computer: You've got mail. Scott Pilgrim: [Turns To Wallace] Dude, this thing claims I have mail. Wallace Wells: It's amazing what we can do with computers these days. Scott Pilgrim: [Turns back] Dude, now I'm totally reading it.
Knives Chau: I've never even kissed a guy before. Scott Pilgrim: Hey... me neither.
Todd Ingram: Tell it to the cleaning lady on Monday. Scott Pilgrim: What? Todd Ingram: Because you'll be dust by Monday... because you'll be pulverized in two seconds. The cleaning lady? She cleans up... dust. She dusts. Scott Pilgrim: So, what's on Monday? Todd Ingram: 'Cause... it's Friday now, she's the weekends off, so... Monday, right?"
Scott Pilgrim: Wait! We're fighting over Ramona? Matthew Patel: Didn't you get my email explaining the situation? Scott Pilgrim: I skimmed it. Wallace Wells: [shaking head] Mm-mm. Matthew Patel: You will pay for your insolence!
Knives: "So what do you play?" (meaning instruments) Young Neil: "Oh, I play Zelda and Tetris..."
'Did you really see a future with this girl?' 'Like...with jet packs.'

"Summertime" by Sex Bob-Omb
Music video featuring the cast of the film version of Scott Pilgrim vs the World as Sex Bob-Omb - from Scott Pilgrim's YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/ScottPilgrimMusic. I totally cheered for Young Neil at the end.

Add a CommentThis is awesome movie
A visually brilliant movie, and by far the best tribute to retro video games I have ever seen. The plot and dialogue move fast and furious, so if you aren't paying attention, you are going to get lost pretty quickly. (I suspect a lot of negative comments came from people who watched it assuming it would just be fluff - this is not a movie for people with short attention spans, despite the quick cuts.) This may also be the role Michael Cera was born to play. Some surprisingly strong acting throughout, including in some playful fight choreography. And it's nice to see Toronto play itself for a change. Much of the movie feels like a UK director's love song to the city.
freaking epic movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love LOVE <3 IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watched it mostly because Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) directed it. His other movies dealt with specific genres but they were enjoyable to a general audience. 'Scott Pilgrim' was made for true fans of gaming and role playing. I enjoyed it, but felt left out. Michael Cera's character is very annoying; male fantasy that a slacker like him has two attractive women fighting for him. Really?
Followed the story almost perfectly. 5/5 Stars!
Great movie one of the best movies they have
Great movie and even better Graphic novels!
Great movie. I will forever hope for vegan powers
I just did not feel that this was well done. I do not follow the comic so maybe I am missing something. I felt the movie was not funny and just mildly entertaining. I get the video game aspect of the story, but the script was poor at best. I gave the movie a better rating then it deserves because of its ambition, but I felt a total disconnect and just figured that it was a generational thing. I am too old and just do not "get it".
"The best movie ever"? Mmmm ... maybe what they say about the tendency of the young to do before considering the consequences is true? In any event, I stopped to watch this because it was directed by Edgar Wright who directed two films that I am familiar with and that I like, i.e, "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz." Not the best movies ever, but more than respectable. Easily. Fun, too. To be honest about it, I had to stop watching this very early on. So there is ample reason to attack this. It's just that to be honest, I DON'T go back and watch "Beach Blanket Bingo" and I don't see that as a bad thing. Maybe I just have my doubts about movies made for a particular demographic and that demographic alone. I know it happens. I just don't have much use for it. I am quite sure it's dripping with irony, this enterprise. I am quite sure it is riddled with resonance for a generation. Just not sure that I trust that sort of appeal. And Michael Cera? Well, someday someone is going to want him to play something that will seem to be outside his comfort zone. Not sure that has happened yet.
