Summary
Add a Summaryimage On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, Meghan Chase is confronted with a scene straight out of Pet Cemetery when she and her mother are attacked by her four year old brother. Her best friend Robbie (aka the famous Puck) saves her and reveals that her brother has been switched with a faery changeling and the only way to get him back is to find the kidnapper in the Nevernever (aka faeryland). The world of the faery is as terrifying as it is beautiful. In her quest, Meghan is nearly eaten several times, ripped apart by trolls, drowned by nixies, impaled by a prince, raped by a herd of satyrs, and boiled by Goblins. And that's not even half of it. There is nothing sweet and gentle about the fey in this book.
Meghan has always felt that she didn't quite fit in. But she could always rely on her best friend, Robbie, for a smile and her little brother, Ethan, for a hug. On her 16th birthday, Meghan's world is shaken to the core when Ethan is kidnapped and she finds out that Robbie is not what he appears to be. Determined to rescue Ethan, Meghan enters the faery realm where the Summer and Winter fey are eternally at odds. Meghan becomes a pawn in their deadly game and knows she cannot trust anyone. Even so, she needs help to battle her way across the Nevernever in search of Ethan and must decide whether the gorgeous but dangerous Winter prince can be trusted. When a cruel and twisted power threatens to destroy all of Nevernever, will Meghan find her brother before it’s too late? Grades 8-12, 363 pages

For all the Mortal Instruments lovers, this series seems right up your alley. Meghan is not a particularly strong female character; in fact, she was a lot like Clary in which she constantly got her poop-face on. If anyone wants to read an adventure story that is beautifully paced is Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series . I thought the world building was better than the plot development I felt like I was in a Tim Burton movie for half of the book and then I was in Wonderland for the other. I really appreciated the Shakespeare connection. I don't even want to mention the love triangle. I hate love triangles and none of the guys were swoon-worthy. Overall, this series is not really my cup of tea but Cassandra Clare fans will devour it.
its a great book...but mostly for people that are patient. this story takes a while to get tasteful...but i promise once it does, you wont be able to put it down. you'll be sad once you finish the series...i know i was but very rich indeed
It's interesting. It's extremely boring at parts and I seemed to have missed something about Puck. The book is some offspring hybrid of Twilight and Alice in wonder land. Puck and Ash are long lost brothers from twilight or something. Ash, I don't understand why my friends like him so much, and I prefer Puck because he's much more enthusiastic. Megan does scream a lot, but I think I'll get over that. I like the monarchy, and leaves me with a few questions about it. The cat reminds me so much of the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. In the end, mildly enjoyable, cliche, but something I don't hate completely. With the Iron King, (being a rip off or Sauron) I would have said yes. Darn you Megan! He's cool, look at him, he rules a kingdom, and he's cool and will be kind to you, and do whatever you want. MARRY HIM NO N- AW... you killed him.
The whole series reminds me of the Alice in Wonderland series...and not in a good way. I love Puck though!
It's not bad, but it's not great either. I think that some parts are a bit slow, and I think the ending is too... anti-climactic. In my opinion.
It's a sweet book and all, very fun to read. However, it seems like a conglomeration of a bunch of other stories. (The author didn't make up anything new. Totally not original, yet still a fun book!) There is no deep meaning or high quality literature. But The Iron King is still worth the fun, quick read!
hmmm.... i dont understand why there are so many holds on this book. i mean, i love this book and all, but still! the iron queen and daughter is wayyyy better than this book and they have like 0 holds. you can find those two books in the turning racks and is there one copy of the iron king, the one that started it all? NO! not a single copy, not where i look. shouldnt the library staff look at how much ppl love this book and order more??

Unbelievably wonderful book. It combines grace with darkness. The brooding feeling it gives you makes you never want the edventure to end. It makes you want to live in that world, no matter how dangerous it is.
