This book was NOT your typical super hero story. It was quite enjoyable until about chapter three, when you discover something slightly undesirable. Firstly, the guy is gay. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against gay people. Its just the fact that they're gay that bothers me. Then is goes into his problems and how he has to resist Internet porn and blah blah blah... I had to stop half way through it got so bad.

I loved this book! If you summarized it, it would sound like sci-fi, but it totally isn't. The personal, interpersonal, and life-threatening struggles all the charecters faced were gripping. I loved Larry!

This book was disappointing. I thought it showed a lot of promise at first - the concept was something I'd never seen before and it seemed like a good one. Unfortunately, the writing style did not live up to the rave reviews I'd read about HERO. The characters were lack-lustre and I felt that the writing was nothing special. Plot twists were predictable, character relationships, especially between Thom and his love interest, Goran, were...meh. I would rate this book as an average YA novel. The only reason I'm sort of tearing it apart (sorry!) is that I had expected so much more from all the hype it had created.

Thom Creed has a power. But his father is a hated and shunned ex-hero. So when Thom tries out for the League, the very people who shut his dad out, he must face himself and his family’s past, all while trying to figure out his sexuality and a murderer who is killing heroes. This book is very fast-paced, very character driven, and very good. It will have you turning the pages faster and faster!

This book has everything. Action. Adventure. Romance. Happy stories. Sad stories. Secrecy. Forgiveness. Redemption. Humour. This book has something for everybody. The story is gripping. The characters are deep. In fact, Perry Moore doesn't introduce a character unless he plans on giving them a complicated back story. You won't want to put this down. No matter who you are, there is going to be something in this book that you will relate to. Although it's about superheroes, this book is very real.
